"It is not the ship so much as the skillful sailing that assures the prosperous voyage."
— George William Curtis
A great designer is not unlike a great sailor. They must both be courageous and leave the familiar behind. They must learn to live with restlessnes and take the current when it serves, or lose their ventures. They must master their craft and constantly check their course or risk forever being lost in the ever changing tide of their field. A designer can check their progress and see where they stand by being diligently self-reflective and analytical with their work. A portfolio inventory is a compendium of a designer's work with a detailed critique of how it contributes to their portfolio. This inventory includes my latest and most relevant design work over the last 3 years and will help me to determine how much growth I've achieved and what my strengths and weaknesses are. The completion of this book gave me a rewnewed sense of direction and will be useful in guiding me further as a designer.
