Celebrity Sunday - Woody Allen

On a second quite winter morning (Sunday, 15th, February), I wanted to extend the series of celebrity portaits. This was after a very successful first attempt, with Will Smith (you can see the project; here!) and I wanted to experient a little more. After some comments on my first image, the obvious second stage development to the series was Woody Allen (try and get the connection?). So, I woke and made plans to see how quick I could render out a caricature of Woody Allen, using the new technique. The fact was I had rendered the pencil sketch some days before, as I now have a list of celebrities and when I get a free moment I doodle out ideas.

This is my second ever attempt at doing a caricature of anyone!

I was quite happy with the result, so a new one every Sunday; call it Celebrity Sunday. The next in the queue is Jack Nicholson. So more to come.

This is the sketch of the portrait done in pencil, with a reference image that I used to do the painting and drawing. You will see that the painting process pulled a lot together, and it changed the look some.
This is a very close detail to show the roughness of the brush I use. It is infact a hair brush, but I felt with repeated painting it gave the feel of a oil paint texture. So basically layer up the colours using this as the only brush I have on my palette.
