Celebrating Chinese New Year 2015

Celebrating Chinese New Year 2015 - WebGL Fireworks

Every year, Traditional Chinese New Year aka Spring Festival is the most important holiday to every single Chinese people. We created real-time rendering WebGL fireworks to celebrate it in this February! We leveraged the latest and cutting-edge web technologies, such as WebGL 3D, GLSL(openGL Shader Language) to build up the whole atmosphere and real-time rendering of fireworks, simulated the astonishing ripple of pixels, as well as fireworks emitting and explosion. We created this screen art in an innovative way instead of other conventional web celebrations.

Somewhere between Screen Art and Technology

The crafted experimental work for the agency Activation Nodeplus. The CNY a.k.a Spring Festival is the traditional and most important holiday to every single Chinese people. I collaborated with the agency Activation Nodeplus to create this real-time rendering WebGL experience in Feb, 2015. In the belief of visual brilliance, the goal is to convey this celebration in an unconventional and innovative way.

Cross modern browsers and Multi-devices

The visual presence of this site was to blur the line between technology and art. Thousands of WebGL particles give off based on the shape of input words. To make sure each particle is under the control of its own luminance, saturation and gravity, I wrote physics algorithms to monitor particles' lifetime, and add post processing Efx to enhance the impact of explosion in the 3D space.

The site was leveraged by the latest and cutting-edge web technologies, such as WebGL 3D, GLSL(openGL Shader Langauage) to build up the whole atmosphere and real-time rendering of fireworks, simulated the astonishing ripple of pixels, as well as fireworks emitting and explosion. We created this screen art in an innovative way instead of other conventional web celebrations.
