One of the biggest challenges in this design was keeping true to the iconic source design yet bringing her up to date. The original version is solid gold, and to remove that would have been very ineffective, but at the same time it limits the color palette severely. I ended up chosing a gold-bronze motif with black and white areas to break up the shapes of her artificial form. Forms and shapes from the original robotic design were incorporated in different areas to increae the sense of familiarity.
