Built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, the temple complex of Angkor Wat is located 5km from Cambodia's second largest city of Siem Reap.
At first a Hindu temple it soon converted to Buddhism and at 820,000 meters square (203 acres), is the largest religious monument in the world.
