Together with Desine Lab team members, I designed and built a multipurpose outdoor gathering space in Sri Lanka. This experience constituted the first phase of a partnership between Desine Lab and a rural community in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is recovering from years of civil unrest and the 2004 tsunami that devastated much of the island. Desine Lab’s involvement with the community is focused on creating a Design and Innovation Centre where creative processes and critical practices will drive the teaching and learning process. Cross-pollination between existing and new skill sets, and old and new technologies, will be fostered; while a focus on local needs will situate the application, testing and launching of new processes, products and micro-enterprises.
Initial General Process

More to come as the project develops and more documentation is collected!
