Before/After Image: MIA's current flat overhead map (left) was not guiding visitors to galleries, parking, stairwells or bathrooms. Utilizing field observation and interviews (executives and volunteers), we crafted a map highlighting the 3-D relationships between floors and important stair/elevator connections (right).
Field Notes Image: An understanding of the overall campus for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts was lacking. Outdoor entrances, relationships to adjacent buildings and parking were hard to understand. Another major issue was which entrance to use and what constituted the “front door”. This view from the Northeast was chosen after multiple explorations of various vantage points.
