HARVEST

"Harvest" created for  Shalini Ganendra Fine Art  ( fb: SGFA   www.shaliniganendra.com )

"Harvest" is inspired by the local rice harvesting season and the belief that hard work reaps reward. The WauBulan (moon kite) symbolizes the close of the harvest when local farmers in Kelantan fly the kite to signify the end of that season. For me, it is a reminder to embrace all opportunity for growth and maturity.

The installation is an inventory of materials and techniques, including paper, acrylic and layered plywood. The floral pattern of vivid and contrasting blue and orange colours, applies many of the vivid colors on the Wau/kite. Details take on circular shape of the "Bulan/moon. The framed paddy is appropriately made of rice paper and "lidi" celebrating the skill of craft making with natural materials. We reap what we sow. Let it always be a good harvest.
