Design Thinking Session Slides

I led several design-thinking sessions in both Phoenix and Dallas. I wanted the presentation itself to be well-designed and to show the shift in perspective that design-thinking requires. These photographs are taken on my father's farm. My father is not exactly the most organized character on the planet, and the farm could maybe be accurately described as a "glorious mess." I admire him, though, because he is able to keep costs down by combining his tendency to collect with his talent for innovation. We have repurposed, functioning equipment that is over one hundred years old on our farm because of his ingenuity. A shift in optical perspective, zooming in on details hides the overwhelming busy-ness of the mess and, instead, shows the character of the old, dilapidated items for which he continues to find use. A shift in attitudinal perspective shows the rusty, worn out, farm items as romantic and capable of supporting the production of vibrant, healthy food for the local community.
