2012-Packaging for artistic jigsaw puzzles

When I was working for a games and jigsaw puzzles manufacturer, I got to redesign part of their jigsaw puzzles collection.
The collection consisted in 8 different categories, each of them defined by a particular color scheme.
Many little details and graphical twists were added on this design, while keeping it simple at the same time.
The collection of adult jigsaw puzzles, and each product line's different color scheme.
The design choices I made allowed for vertical, as well as horizontal flexibility, since some boxes were presented vertically while others horizontally.
Above are some of the best-selling products that I redesigned.
The back of the boxes of the adult jigsaw puzzles bring many details in both French and English, to inform the user about the product.
Finding the right terms in both languages proved to be a challenge in this symmetrical design, where each block or circle of text had to be around the same number of characters and the same font size.
One of my beliefs as a designer is to make the best possible use of space, and to hide some of the largest elements on the back of a design, yet not sacrifice its legibility or design appeal.
When the user opens the box, the gilded letters of the outside of the box reveal printed teal letters placed right below on the box's bottom part, thus creating a feeling of visual persistency and a fun graphical twist.
The color scheme for all of the puzzle's different sizes can be found on all bottom designs for the boxes.
This way, the existence of the other puzzles of the other ranges is hinted to the client.
