The proposal for a nursing home is an answer to the need for residential amenities for senior citizens in a neighborhood situated in the industrial area surrounding the Dacia car factory. The area is considered a suburb of the city of Pitesti, with residents either working at the factories nearby or retiring outside the city. The plot of land on which I decided to design the nursing home is on a hill overlooking the neighborhood which used to be part of a larger domain once owned by a noble family. In its vicinity there is also a residential facility with individual houses, a supermarket and a school.
The building comprises of five residential levels, each containing eighteen single bedrooms and two fully equipped apartments. The two semi-public levels are destined for the daily use of the residents of the facility while allowing the possibility of visits from the seniors’ relatives.
The nursing home is conceived as a terraced structure allowing the residents recreational outdoor spaces and also a level of privacy suitable for this program. As a result, each room has an easy access to the open terraces on each level. It also boasts a geriatric clinic for private practices, a spa and a restaurant for both residents and visitors.

The design of the building came naturally, from the geography of the land, feeling the need to reinterpret the hillside into a structure that strives to have as little impact on the surroundings as possible while also taking advantage of the natural scenery. Using white finish on the walls, light wood panels and glass railings was done so as to offer the building a more luminous appearance to fit in with the green landscape.
