Weavers Guild of Aberdeen- Winning Collection

It was  a massive honour to be given a position in the weavers guild competition in association with the Guild of Aberdeen and the North of Scotland.
For this I had to Create a woven collection of materials along with indepth research of the weaving industry and its history as well as future in Scotland( as seen on my blog)  I gained most of my research from New Lanark Woolen mill as well as The tartan mill and exhibition in Edinburgh.
This worked together with the colour and texture research I gained from the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow.

All textiles students in the north east were given the opportunity to enter the competition and there was entries from Second, Third and Fourth year students as well as applicants from various external weavers from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.

I was very pleased to find out my designs chosen as the winning collection and were appreciated for the use of unusual materials - such as coloured branches, while keeping the traditions of Scottish weaving in mind.

The winnings contributed my research and development funding while I studied Culture and Language in Nanjing China.
