The Matchbox is a series of episodes connected through the act of lighting a match. Set in WWII era America, the narrative explores the ritualistic symbolism of fire; enlightenment, destruction and purification.
Rather than following the storytelling methods used by popular animation studios today, anthropomorphizing inanimate objects, I wanted to tell an inanimate object and its history and the narrative it holds for a family in the indifferent, inanimate way it tells us.
