Rockfish- beach : lounge : grill - GOA

Rockfish is a Mediterranean restaurant located on the Baga beach in Goa, India.

The aim of this project was to create an identity for this space which was in sync with greek-mediterranean beachy lands and also keeping in mind the vibe of Goa. The project is a part of the Soma Project and you can see the offerings on https://www.zomato.com/goa/rockfish-baga!

Colour Palette: The selection was based on inspiration taken by the sands and colours noticed during my own escapades in Goa, as well as the requirement of the owners. The artistic flair in the owners, led to a very subtle selection of pastels.

Typography: The mood of Rockfish can be defined as chill and laid back. The main factors in the choice of typeface was the trance and deep house music that is 'trippy' and instrumental. Therefore, the slightly 'tipsy' font!

Identity/Illustration: Being inspired by the form of the fish helped here. The identity selected is a very detailed digital illustration of a sliced, served fish which is depicted in pastel mosaic to give a Mediterranean mosaic feel to the artwork. An asymmetrical rock form has been used so that the identity stands out evenly amongst other beach restaurant competitors- across mediums of communication!

Space & Interiors: Rockfish was opened in October-November 2014, the space is an organically evolving zone where experiments are always in motion in every sense. Here are a few glimpses of what you can stumble upon although, one can always expect a 'white washed' decor always at Rockfish.

Seating Arrangement: What's better than spending a lazy day overlooking the beach with some boozy slushes and the Sunday brunch menu!

Visiting Card: The request was for a folding visiting card which included the identity, concept note as well as a directional map since Goa is a tourist location and it can be a little difficult to find the restaurant.
