London Tradition

Trans-Action posted a tweet asking for a design agency that could help them with a brochure for the duffle coats of London Tradition. They wanted a digital and printed brochure with a strong and rustic look. Out of all the responses they chose Dutch Portfolio as design agency.

About Trans-Action

Trans-Action International Agents is the representative of exclusive (outdoor) brands in the Netherlands.

The clothes are of high quality and great comfort, but with its own particular style and identity. Authenticity, quality and natural materials are the characteristics of the products Trans-action sells.

The family business was founded in 1991 by Jos Krom. In the mean while the team is expanded with his wife Annelies and daughter Eva.

Brochure

The most important thing was the appearance of the brochure, that's why the main goal was to get the right strong and rustic look. Since this type of project was quite new for Trans-Action, Dutch Portfolio gave a lot of advice and guidance during the design process.

For the photography used in the brochure we organised a winter photo shoot. This gives the brochure it’s own style and makes it authentic and recognisable. The layout is kept simple so the photos stand out.

The biggest challenge during the design process was the page with the colour swatches. This was a challenge because of the paper that was going to be used and the number of swatches. That is why we chose a sheet that unfolds. This way all the colour swatches fit and we could use a different kind of paper.

The paper choice was very important for the final result. A robust paper suits the characteristics of the products. Therefore the brochure is printed on matt paper and only the cover (on the inside) got a different finish.

Photo shoot

As the brochure contained specific products we worked with our own photos. Together with Bart van Asselen we organised a winter photo shoot.

The location for the shoot was the beautiful Marienwaerdt estate in Beesd. And we were lucky we got fresh snow and sun! It was a huge success and afterwards we had enough footage to fill the brochure.
