Facilitating a Community Workshop with a Poster Series
"Design is a journey of discovery" – Derek Parker, writer
The district of Oberwil will become a city within the next few years. During this development, the reurbanization of the Eisweiher Area is an important step. We have been invited to set up and conduct a workshop for decision making. In this intensive workshop 80 opinion leaders from the district shared their visions and implementation ideas for the urban development. Four architecture studios created models for the area.
We approached the project with the aim of creating Big Pictures to give an overview during the workshop. YAAY clearly presented what needs to be done and what the improvement possibilities are in order to assist the opinion leaders in their decision making process.
Six Big Pictures represent the plan of the Eisweiher area with a focus on the results of the test planning, financing and urban development. Furthermore, there is a graphical outlook towards further steps. The whole area is divided in four sub-areas. Therefore, we introduced four distinguishable colors for the six posters with the goal of connecting the sub-areas in a clearly distinctive way. In addition to the posters we redesigned hand-outs and presentation slides. As a result of our approach, the workshop participants were able to discuss very complex topics in a creative and efficient way.
