This research project initially kicked off to learn usage pattern and market trend for Android devices then take it into an account to build conceptual model eventually. I took the ownership of this research project and led concept development phase. On this image, these were 4 big segments I was focusing on.
We started with a fixed framework of interview questions then decided to just go holistically about hearing stories from 12 users.
It was amazing to find out how similar one story related to another. Then we classified the usage data into three group–Basic / Common / Special occasion.
More data about usage summary was added from online research.
Mobile device usage pattern varies by activity, location, time and form factor. We combined multiple sources to pull the main data point.
Based on multiple research sources, I analyzed the facts about specific usage pattern and device behavior for smarphone, tablet and PC.
Competitive research and analysis was done in collaboration with research specialist then added in the final document.
I completed qualitative evaluation based on competitive audit to make positive/negative proposition of competitive products.
UX recommendation about creating design parameter for different form factors.
I created this ideation tracker sheet as a live doc so anyone could pinch in with fresh new ideas for the team to review, validate, and take action.
Designers took the research information to the creative level to build conceptual models and iterate. Samples are avaialble on my portfolio or upon request for further details.
