YR 2- School Atrium

Live project to re-design a school atrium in Grimsby to be a more welcoming and inviting space for the children to work and play in. The theme of the school influenced the final proposal, looking at trees in particular and the ways branches interweave. After a day spent at woodlands Primary, it was evident that the school needed a more interactive space to enjoy, encapsulating the ‘heart’ of the school. The proposal is based on the school’s motto ‘Tall Oaks from Little Acorns Grow’, using this idea along with the nature identity of the school. Wooden structures flourish from an acorn seat, forming wooding structures around the room. The plywood structure forms a continuous feature throughout the space creating room dividers, craft spaces and enclosed areas. Small accents of colour brighten the space and add interest for the children.
