The Microphone Project
I was contacted by the Executive Producer of YEStv, a pioneer English Channel in Sri Lanka to design the identity and main artwork for an upcoming pilot show based on showcasing Live bands in the country.

Being close friends with the producer, she mentioned that she contacted me because she liked my style of work, and felt that I would understand the look and feel she required much better. So after a quick chat online I got down to implementing her thoughts with my vision for how I pictured this to work.

As they would be showcasing a lot of the young rock, alternative and metal bands in the country, I felt a grunge look and elements would be appreciated, but grunge has a tendency to be so drab with color use, so I went for a more vibrant selection of colors.
The Logo was quite an easy idea, the Show was to be called "The Microphone Project". But almost every live show that highlights musicians used a mic in some form, so trying to be original is tricky situation.
The Concept behind this show was also to be a launching pad for these artists, so i was thinking the backdrop they required was going to follow the grunge theme, and 'making an impact' was like showcasing yourself to the country, so i considered using city scapes...
I was very inspired by some MTV intro's i've seen for their chart shows.. and it was also in anticipation that some of these artists were requiring acceptance for their chosen form of 'art'. So i created  like this mixed in live show hands to communicate that 'acceptance' and the community 'reaching out' feel..
And below, last but not least, how the backdrop will look when printed and placed together!
