100 Days of Sketching

As an Art Director it is easy to forget about my love for my sketchbook.
This is my personal challenge to continue sketching, drawing and making art.
There will be a few posts with final art, and older sketches, but I want this to be a growing persoanl project.
Day 1. Star Wars
Working through a sketch for an upcoming Star Wars art show. The concpet here is to shwo the progression of Anakin to Vader...We'll call it Vaderhood. :) I have always been inspired by the works of Mucha and many other who have depicted womanhood in three parts. This is my gentle reference to that concept, but with a lightsaber.
Que music in head...."Duuunnn Duuunnn dun dun dun Duuuunnnnn Dun     dun dun dun Duuuunnnnn dun ...DUN DUN DUN DUN"

Day 2. Lost Innocence: Alone
I completed this etching in 2010 as a part of my Advanced Intaglio class at Baylor University. This is one of the first pieces that I created that lead to my Lost Innocence Series. I promised some older artwork too, so here is one of the first completed pieces.
Day 3. Buried Deep: Graphic Novel
I have been working on a graphic novel with a friend who has written the series. I have worked on layout of the past couple of months and am working on the final sketches before bringing everything to the computer.
Day 4. Lost Innocence: Touch (Oil Painting)
This is one of the first paintings that I did in school while pursuing my BFA, I was able to work through my subject matter, Lost Innocence.
Day 5. Personal Branding Businss Cards
For my personal branding from business cards to social media, I simply use a custom created illustration of myself that I desisgned. For my business cards I resort to using a linocut process, which means I hand press every single one of  my business cards. It is a long and tedious process, but the result is worth the sweat.
Day 6. The Book of Sorrows
I have been a little busy over the past few weeks, and have gotten side tracked and haven't been sketching as often as I should. But fear not, I have been working on a solo exhibition artist proposal here in Houston. This is just a sketch for the show. I still have a lot to do for that show, but as I am working I will try to post more. More details to come.
Day 7: Skull Study
I was able to spend my Sunday afternoon sketching the day away, first with a Figure Drawing class in Midtown Houston, followed up by a few hours at my favorite coffee shop in town. I love the human figure, and the complexities of the humna skeletal structure.
Day 8: Figure Drawing
Here is one of the drawings from my figure drawing session on Sunday. i have been experimenting with Molotow paint pens, which are beautiful tools! The colors are vibrant and the textures are great but subtle.

Day 9: Star Wars - Darth Vader
Working on sketches for the upcoming Houston Star Wars Show. Going to experiment with line work and unexpected colors.
Day 10: Star Wars - Boba Fett
Working on sketches for the upcoming Houston Star Wars Show. Going to experiment with line work and unexpected colors.
Day 11: Star Wars - Darth Vader Unmasked
I am still working on sketches for the Houston Star Wars show for May 2-3, if you are in town that weekend let me know. This is an alternate version to entry for Day One.
Day 12: The Book of Sorrows
I am working on a new art show, similiar in nature to my Lost Innocence series, but involves more than jsut sexual abuse. It is a working dream/nightmare. I want to do some custom lettering for the show's opening directly on the walls.
Day 13: Darth Vader
For the upcoming Star Wars show in HoustonI am working on a couple large pieces.
Day 14: Chalk Art
I was commissioned for chalk art project this summer in Houston. It took one week, and was under tight deadline, but turned out great. I will post final pictures soon.
Day 15: Little Monsters
This is a new series I have been working on where children have hunting gear on. Spin-off of my Lost Innocence series.
More to come.
Day 15: LI Nightmares
Spent the weekend painting at Houston Whatever Fest. Great weekend, finished off by the sell of this painting.
