This was a proposal for the layout and cover of The Torch Literary Arts Magazine in Spring 2014. To fit with the theme of spring, I chose an illustration of birds coming to roost in the branches of a budding tree; the off-white leaves reflect the last vestiges of winter snow slipping away, while as a whole the illustration is intended to give a sense of hope and new life. The upward reaching branches are meant to add to this effect, as well as lead the reader's eye to the title of the magazine. The tree motif is carried throughout the interior spreads, taking on the cool blue from the background cover so as not to distract the reader from the text. One of my favorite projects.
