Arcesso | Strigiformes

Barn, Snowy, Eared, Scops, Tawny, Spectacled

Strigiformes are all based on owls. Their “hair” is made up of large feathers with length and style options. Their bodies are covered in small, soft feathers and they are a very slim species. They wear flowing robes, the sleeves giving the illusion of wings. Their feet have four clawed toes, the fourth toe being on the back, similar to the split feet of birds.

"Noble and aristocratic, the strigiformes love to spend their days in conference discussing philosophy, life, and other such things. They are graceful in their movements, androgynous in appearance.  They are isolationists, preferring their forest home and the company of their own kind.  Highly inspired by art, it influences their architecture and styles of learning. Their home is built to seamlessly integrate with the forest trees."

Arcesso | Relic

Amethyst, Abalone, Diamond, Lava, Hematite, Labradorite, Bismuth

The relics come from a sci-fi inspired universe. To reflect this, I chose to give them a less bulky build and appear armored. The colors of the “cracks” and their “hair” show their stone type.

"Back in olden times, there was a catastrophic meteorite landing on the relics’ planet. That released a highly infectious virus that spread onto the once thriving planet, turning it into a desolate wasteland. Still genetically mutating, the inhabitants were forced to become subterranean to survive. The infectious virus still active in relics’ system absorbed the surrounding minerals in their new home, changing their bodies into rare ores which keep them alive. In order to survive underground, the virus enabled them to eat minerals as a nutritional source but if no minerals have been consumed by the relic, they will start to petrify and cease living. With their difficult history, the relics are a hardy species. While not a warring species, the relics train themselves in martial arts. They are proficient in close-range combat with and without weapons."

Arcesso | Adlet

The Adlet come from a fantasy inspired universe. They are slim under their coats and variations on coat color and length will be optional.

“In their distant past, the adlet were considered pets of a higher species, until a war eradicated the owners, leaving the planet’s weather cycle permanently snowy. Over time, natural selection and evolution resulted in the adlet evolving to humanoid wolves. They hunt in packs like Earth wolves, are proficient in archery, and are able to quickly run long distances on their legs. Due to their history of servitude, the adlet are an empathetic and close-knit species. They despise unnecessary suffering and wastefulness. They live in natural caves in large communities, each family’s home separated by tunnels and common areas.”

Arcesso | Torn Sky

Tears to and from Arcesso are entirely random occurrences. This image depicts a tear in Arcesso’s sky and reveals a planet and moon in the sky of another universe.

Arcesso | Lacertilia

Lorikeet, Macaw, Lovebird, Red-Legged Honeycreeper, Violet-Backed Starling

The Lacertilia were inspired by the Salarians of Mass Effect, Argonians of The Elder Scrolls, lizards, and dinosaurs. Their colors are derived from tropical birds.

"The lacertilia are a scavenging people, searching for rare and interesting artifacts. They reside in overgrown, stone buildings in a tropical forest. Due to their intense study of ancient artifacts, the lacertilia have become proficient in magic and utilize it daily. They also like to tinker with what they find and invent things. Their bright camouflage evolved to match the foliage surrounding the ruins they call home. They are comfortable inside and outside and do not overly concern themselves with notions of possession. Any things learned and created are for the entire community. This cultural aspect developed through the scavenging. They learned to cherish everything they had and passed the sentiment to their descendants."

Arcesso | Aquatic

Mandarin, Lion, Angler, Shark

The original, extra bulky design of the aquatic species was not working for me and did not seem functional enough. So I gave their body type an overhaul while still maintaining a bulky muscular feel.

“The aquatics’ planet is mostly covered in water. An unknown species crashed their ship onto the planet centuries before. A substance on the ship contaminated the water of the planet, evolving the aquatic race into intelligent, muscular beings. The aquatics built homes atop and below the water’s surface. They are an extremely scientific species and are still studying their own evolution and discerning what substance leaked into their environment all those centuries ago. Even with their move into non-water homes, the aquatics still swim often and maintain the ability to breathe underwater.”

Arcesso | Chiropetra

Honduran Ghost, Fruit, Vampire, Sugar Glider

The chiropetra are based on bats and similar creatures.

"Going into direct sunlight does not cause physical harm, but does limit the abilities of the chiropetra and causes migraines. To counteract this, they took an interest in alchemy and produce potions that ease the pain. As a result, the entire species is adept at potion making. They utilize their echo location skills to find their prey and keep track of each other. Because of this, the chiropetra are extremely sociable and there are few secrets kept between them. They may seem quite nosy to other species. Each community lives in a large building carved into a mountain-side with little separation between family quarters."

Arcesso | Ancients

"The ancients of Arcesso were a peaceful society. But when the war between the other creatures tore Arcesso apart, the ancients chose to seal them away into weapons and artifacts around the world. With the land in ruin, and portals to other universes now appearing, the Ancients chose to leave their ancestral home through the portals, giving the land time to heal."

Arcesso | Ancients' Descendants, Almuj

"The almuj are descendants of the ancients of Arcesso. The world they left Arcesso for is covered mostly in plant life and thick forests. The ancients, having lived there for centuries before returning to Arcesso, developed a symbiotic-like relationship with the flora and evolved into the almuj."

Arcesso | Ancients' Descendants, Nemrack

"The nemrack are descendants of the ancients of Arcesso. Not wishing to live in the forest world the almuj chose, the nemrack chose a planet covered in steep canyons and rock formations. There they carved homes into canyon-sides and atop plateaus. The nemrack evolved into beings with night vision and plating protecting them from their new homes’ sun."
