Ghinni Nsir Qassis (Help me Become a Priest) was a collaboration between myself and photographer Ritty Tacsum as a homage to Merchant Street in the Maltese Capital City of Valletta.
After some brainstorming sessions on location we decided to make the most out of an iconic small statue of an altar boy holding a donation box (with the words “Għinni Nsir Qassis” – Help me Become a Priest) as well as Valletta’s unsung heroes – the pigeons.
After I created the illustration in oil paint and digital media, Ritty took the illustration to the next level by adding the chaotic, photography-based background that is typical of her style – creating a hybrid image that aptly represents our respective styles.
