"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past - Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."— JFK
Statesmen Pac, is a national, non partisan organization that wants to find and support local leaders that will represent their respective communities; they approached Eli Kirk to create a logo that would represent the mission of the organization.
I experimented with the idea of "the people" being represented by "colonies" of ants and bees, because they are tiny, but togheter they can achieve big things. It was a nice idea; I also experimented with a map of the USA turned into a speech bubble (ok, a clitché but it could've worked). etc
We ended up going into the direction of a simple, flag shaped icon that also serves as the letterform "E". The font is strong and militant-esque, giving the brand a local, grass roots feel, without being too "occupy-wall-street-ish". I particularly like the short hand of the logo, with just the "S PAC" and the flag icon. There was a big discussion about color, because in politics color carries a lot of meaning. So I created a color palette that doesn't connect the brand with any of the mainstream political parties.
