The starting point of this project was the word “instability”. I chose to analyze it further and focus on the act of demolition since the buildings become instable and create interesting forms while they are being destroyed. These forms where my inspiration for creating fashion patterns and manipulating the fabric in different ways. One of the artists that helped me in this research was Gordon Matta-Clark who creates cuts in abandoned building and deforms them. Furthermore, I looked into the Bauhaus movement, Dystopian Environments and the fictional worlds of writer J.G. Ballard, exhibitions and took inspiration from the city of London. The final outcome was a fully functional coat and a sketchbook documenting my creative process.
