The Quiet Before the Storm is an illustration that was commissioned by local progressive rock band Athelstone for the cover of their debut, instrumental album.
No specific brief was supplied so I took the opportunity to use the inspiring music as a point of departure. The dreamy ambience coupled with surprising instances of heavy, complex arrangements led me to create this surreal, atmospheric yet foreboding sunsetfeaturing children swinging on lamp posts in the middle of the ocean just before an imminent storm as a menacing dragonfly watches quietly.
