Vertebral Silence is a stop-motion, oil-on-paper animation that depicts a disquieting sequence of delirious, hallucinatory visions that perturb the protagonist of a concept album by Maltese metal band Anomaly.
Using the track as a point of departure I came up with a dreamy, surrealist stream of consciousness in line with the moods elicited by the music.This animation was executed using a combination of oil-on-paper, stop-motion animation, digital compositing and caffeine.
