Underground Emersion
Concept Design + Graphic Design + Sound Design + Video
Client:
Graduate project at UQÀM, l'École de design, DESS en design d'événements (2014)

Project:
Create an immersive and restorative experience in the underground tunnels of Montréal.

Specifics:
This concept was created in the context of a graduate class taught by Sinisha Brdar at the UQÀM School of Design (DESS en design d'événements, 2014). My objective was to create a sound and visual installation in the underground tunnels of Montréal to provide commuters with a restorative experience. I created three different concepts and this video is just showing a quick mock-up of the first concept. I want pedestrians to have a sensorial experience related to sights and sounds found in nature. The water and ocean sounds are just one example in order to demonstrate the concept. The project has not currently been produced (as of yet...).
This is a shot of the main rotunda that connects the four underground tunnels.
This is an aerial view of the rotunda and the four tunnels. Two of the tunnels are open to the rotunda and the other two have doors at the entrance to the rotunda. These factors significantly affect the way the sound is implemented and experienced by pedestrians.

The shots below illustrate the basic idea of the concept. Sound and blue and white LED lights are installed in each of the four tunnels and the video projection is reserved for the rotunda space.
