The Dark Knight Propaganda

I was set a task to investigate the well know graphic designer Saul Bass for further research into my main project of propaganda on a chosen film. My film of choice is the 2008 The Dark Knight, directed by Christopher Nolan.
Saul Bass research, originals and fan made.
What first struck me about Saul Bass' work was the typography he used, what looked like letters cut outs of paper to create his words. I looked around on the internet for similar fonts that I could use in my designs, one that I believe to have the same effect as Saul Bass' style was called 'Paper Cuts 2' which was on Dafont.com.
This was the basis on how I made my illustration for my design. Using Adobe Photoshop I created a Cut Out effect of a photo of the Joker and set edge simplicity to give myself some simple shapes to work with. I could then use these shapes to create vector shapes using the pen tool giving me the same cut out style as Saul Bass.

I used the Joker playing card as a referece for my Joker card design and frequently used the reflect tool to get a perfectly symertical design.
This was my final design that I designed. I believe it has worked out exactly how I wanted it too and shows how I was inspired by Saul Bass' style. As a designer composition is always in my mind, so I have taken into consideration the Fibonacci Spiral (Golden Spiral) to make sure everything on the page is placed correctly and professionally.
This is another Saul Bass inspired propaganda poster. For my college project for Propaganda I decided to create propaganda that shows the Batman will protect the people in the fictional city of Gotham.
I have used a propaganda technique called glittering generalities in the word 'justice' as it evokes positive emotion however it is a very vague term that has no exact meaning. I loaded this poster into Photoshop and used some displacement maps and blending modes to add some fold and crumple lines to make it look more authentic.
