In this project I looked at the depression in the 1930s and the musicians that captured mood for the unfortunate situations for millions of Americans.

I mainly looked at the blues and the dark lyrics that seemed to have its own chilling soul. The lyrics of Skip James, Lead Belly, Robert Johnson and Son House helped me to imagine and illustrate designs that would captivate their songs, including subjects of money, racism, poor living conditions and working in the cotton fields.

I used transfer paper to stick the design on to the 1930s Archtop guitar. This was a lengthy period of print and cutting. I then found an old wooden house to take the photographs.
