Having grown up in the Knysna area, I have always loved and cared for elephants, and always wished to see one of the indigenous elephants rumoured to still roam the Knysna Bush. Eventually I took a trip to Botswana and Namibia and experienced some dangerously close encounters with elephants there. Those encounters inspired this painting.
