USCG Online Pilot Lesson Plan

The United States Coast Guard Fishing Regulations department uses air pilots to spot and ID fishing vessels that may be illegally fishing in regulated areas or may be accidentally fishing in closed off areas. The problem is that Pilots are undertrained for how to spot these vessels and what to look for.

I wanted to create a solution to better train pilots. The solution was to create a prototype of an online vessel spotting lesson plan system that can be easily accessed by pilots online.

This involved a 3 step learning process: Explore, Learn, Quiz
Pilot instructors can access and track pilot progress and scores, and pilots can refresh their memory by accessing each lesson plan at any time.
Sign in home page for pilots using their coast guard email login.
Lesson plan page. Choose any lesson in any order.
The Shrimp Trawler lesson is selected in this screen.
A quick demo of how a pilot would navigate through the website.
