Educating the tree care community about arboriculture best practices, the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA) promotes the preservation of trees throughout the state. The nonprofit organization is comprised of more than 700 members ranging from tree care professionals to suppliers of the industry. Each member plays an essential role in upholding the group’s mission of building awareness, participating in outreach programs, and advocating related legislation.

The CTPA hosts an annual Arbor Day Poster Contest as part of its outreach initiatives. The contest caters to fifth grade students, who submit homemade posters illustrating the year’s theme, which is posted on www.ctpa.org. The current year’s theme is My Favorite Tree in My Town 2015. Sharing trees from backyards to playgrounds, participants have until March 13, 2015, to submit up to three posters sharing why they selected a tree as their favorite. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and invited to join the annual Tree Planting Ceremony on Arbor Day.
