Cool Capital Benniale 2014

This animation serves as a visual presentation for an instillation in Pretoria, South Africa. The Brief was to come up with some kind of instillation or activity that would improve the city for its residents. The Cool Capital Benniale 2014 was an initiative by the council to help the country's capital city stay "cool".

The idea consists of installing train carriages that are converted into coffee shops, delis, shaded seating, or any type of shop or relaxation space. The reason for the train carriages is that it will tie in with the train station at the top of Paul Kruger Street, which is an iconic landmark, as well as being the point of entry and exit for many people coming to the city. A train carriage is a comfortable space that can easily be converted. The carriages will be placed along side the already existing pathways along the road, but will be demarcated by a green belt that will serve as a barrier from the stale concrete and tar roads.

Ultimately, these carriages aim to invite the people in the city to stop and relax in a comfortable space that allows them to take the opportunity to enjoy the city, rather than just passing through it.
