This temporary exhibition at the Charles Dickens Museum in Bloomsbury shows the author as flaneur and observer of London, compulsively gathering inspiration for his work, noticing everything as he walked the streets.

 

The small exhibition space was arranged around three original shop signs that were known by Dickens and featured in his novels: The Dog and Pot, The Goldbeater's Arm and the Little Midshipman. The gallery space was transformed to better reflect the original outdoor context and the artefacts supported and protected by niches which allow framed views and a sense of discovery and surprise.
