The site of this project is in the middle of the Alhambra, in Granada. It is located next to the archaeological remains of the Abencerrajes Palace. The location is determined by this palace, a group of houses from the XIX century that currently functions as souvenir shops, the Alhambra walls and the street, Calle Real. The constant flow of visitors requires the creation of a stop-space with seats and the possibility of drinking something. It is also suggested to join this place with a possible visit to the rest of the palace
TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION TO GAZE AT THE TIMELESS PALACE
The main purpose is to create a connection between the Calle Real and the Palace, where the different atmospheres can be expressed: relaxing and appreciating the palace, hustle and bustle in the street.
To achieve this, two perpendicular pieces are placed, creating a “building corner” formed by wooden strips and metal and giving the aspect of a temporary construction. The entrance is in Calle Real, you enter through wooden tunnel from which you can see some archaeological remains through a latticework. From this place, we get to the junction of both pieces, where you decide if you want to rest on the benches, or to the coffeehouse, next to an orange tree courtyard.
