Brain Massage is the first and the last movie from groundbreaking freeskiing group Nipwitz. Known for their creative take on urban skiing in cities, Nipwitz shows travelling, culture and adventure in distinctive fashion through skiing. The two-year film project premiered at Helsinki Bio Rex Theatre on the 1st of November 2014 followed by a national premiere tour and a free online release. The movie was shot in the cities of Russia, Scandinavia, The Baltic, and beyond. Project included logo and poster design with the requirement of versatile usability in print and video. Movie and premiere graphic design and art direction was also part of my role. Inspiration to use a silhouette of a masked man came from discussion with director Aarni Toiviainen. The masked man plays an important role in the movie, him being the driver of the tow-in winch that provides speed on flatground. The mask is not only used because of the looks, but to ensure the drivers face stays unharmed. When the winch reels in the towing rope the rope can move as fast as 185km/h, meaning it can do some serious damage to unprotected body parts if it hits the driver.
