Deep Thoughts (F/W 2015)

“Deep Thoughts” is a collection conceptually inspired by the moment between wakefulness and sleep, and the contrast between that point in time and the realization in the morning of the absolute lack of depth or logic located therein.  Visual and tactile inspiration comes from the Visible Woman doll, who stands in stark contrast to Barbie – an idealized, unattainable woman. The Visible Woman represents a very early acknowledgement and understanding of the contents of a human body - the delicate miracle and simultaneous sturdiness of a living thing. This collection places emphasis on these visual, tactile, and conceptual themes: soft versus hard, humor versus solemnity… It is a wearable representation of the simultaneous existence of these conflicting concepts, and seeks to emphasize the human form by visually questioning it.
