I have always been fascinated by the way that humans choose to interact with their environments, and the imagery of a falling bird sums up a lot of the feeling I have towards environmental crisis. I believe there is something innately beautiful and tragic about birds in the delicate way that they move through the world. They are an incredibly important component to many ecosystems, but are surprisingly fragile. When something is wrong, whether there is an impending natural disaster or a man-made environmental imbalance, birds react in an extremely visual way. When birds start dropping from the sky, that should serve as a reminder that we have gotten very far off course.
