The assignment is a student project and the brief was to create two different covers for books about collectable pens. I was given different pictures of collectable pens which I could use. The criteria were to have the title; collectable pens, the author and the publisher.
For the first cover I wanted to symbolize the different styles of strokes the pens could create. I used different illustrations, just like doodles, just more sophisticated. I used only black, grey and white so the cover then has the feel of being completely hand drawn with the pen.
For the second cover I wanted to take the art feel of the beautiful pens and create them into art of them self. I used the tip of the pen to create a star, like people use to decorate with at Christmas. The stars are given different radiant colours and outer glow to create the feeling of real Christmas stars. The background is red to underline the theme. The font matches the pointy ends of the stars, which combined the two elements.
