Studio 2 - CCA Architecture
The Presidio is an environment that is primarily activated by sports related program taking place on and around Crissy Field. As such I felt that the program I should bring to the Presidio be about San Francisco & the Bay Area, by highlighting the intersection between the Arts and modern Technology. These activities are two major aspects of the Bay Area. By juxtaposing this new program to what already exists at the Presidio, it will allow for a new experience to take place at the Presidio. At the top of the site is the Research Center for Technology and at the bottom a Creative Center for Art.
I stitch these two programs together by creating a new circulation path that will let visitors meander up or down the hill side towards the Parade ground or Crissy field. The path that they take is what generates the foot print for programmatic opportunities. The cantilevered roof structure is an extension of the landscape allowing for visitors to have panoramic views outwards to the ocean/bay as well as observe the activities that would take place in the courtyard between the Creation Center and Cultural Center. Consequently the exterior space can be utilized in different ways such that the space between the two programs can work symbiotically. This creates an opportunity for people from atop the green roofs as well as underneath to observe and participate in the various activities or events. As a result it will allow for new diverse crowd to come and enjoy the Presidio.
