This chair embodies the ideaof adaptation of form and form’s response to function. Each of the functionalelements of this lounge chair join into the next, giving the design a visualcoherence, unity and fluidity. The design language explored within this projectemphasises the usage of seamless and fluid transition between elements thatthey can be read as a whole, from flat to a morph. This design provides afunctional harmony of the material. The design pushed the material’s technicallimits.

Kinetic Leisure Lounge Chairis a product response to adaptation required by movement. The chairincorporates adaptation to the human body for a more humanist approach. Itfacilitates freedom of movement and encourages a variety of postures whileproviding flexible continuous support.

In addition, the object isdesigned to be sculptural as well as functional. The design not only addressesfunctional requirements but also form and structural unity. The chair’sappearance refuses to be just functional.

The chair has a simple weldedrod frame, which is covered by a single piece of neoprene fabric. In order tosupport the user’s back posture, inside there are several tensioned flexiblefabrics. The seat is made of PVC coated foam and plywood. Kinetic LeisureLounge Chair incorporates an unusual skin. The seat section occurs when theuser sits and it is solely supported by tension fabrics, which improve theoxygen flow while seated, and give the user a great deal of freedom ofmovement. The flexible back of the chair adapts to whatever positions theuser’s back shapes, responding automatically to the body’s movement.
