LAYERS EHV is a study of the city of Eindhoven and it’s buildings.
I have selected five different structures based on their historical and present significance in the story of Eindhoven. Specifically, I ask the viewer to analyze why they were built, how they survived, and how they are seen and used today.
I have selected five different structures based on their historical and present significance in the story of Eindhoven. Specifically, I ask the viewer to analyze why they were built, how they survived, and how they are seen and used today.
After shooting a series of photographs for each building, I have sectioned and extracted only some specific parts. These parts, including shadows, textures, and lights as time connections both physical and immaterial, I later reconstructed in totally newvisual images.
These decompositions, and the compositions I crafted from them, serve as a medium for the viewer to analyze the city landscape physically, but also in an ethereal way.
This allows the viewer to travel inside the buildings and reach their “souls.”
