In the middle of summer 2014 I was involved into sci-fi movie project Vychislitel as a digital environment artist.
I was required to design interesting-looking terrain, fill it with unearthly elements and render / compose two shots for Argunov studio. My work was based on reference photos, taken in Iceland, where the movie was filmed. The environment presents quite dangerous and unfriendly place with rough rocks, crystals, black volcanic sand, lack of vegetation.
I was supplied with Maya scenes with the low poly layout, and animated cameras. These scenes were passed to Vue for further work. The terrain was made in World Machine using GeoGlyph with outcome maps for material and ecosystems distribution. The stones were sculpted in Zbrush, crystals - in 3dsmax and rendered with Vray.
