my project observory for ‘eiffelgebouw’ in Maastricht consists multiple temporary viewboxes (dutch: kijkdoosjes) to observe the city maastricht, until the building gets a new destination.
through the frontside of ‘eiffelgebouw’ is a staircase that leads to the 'second sidewalk’ om the roof of the existing building The second stair brings you to the three floors, where a windowopening gives access to the storeys.
each box has his own identity and stimulates or misled the senses; see, hear, feel and intuition. each box has a different material and structure what creates different experiences; total silence vs reflecting ambient sound, light vs complete darkness.

contrast; fuss vs silence. each 'box' provides a short escape from everyday life and thereby belonging influences from the hectic city maastricht.
the viewboxes offer sights through a small opening to "timmerfabriek", the "belvedere" and a part of the Boschstraat. you will be seen by passers-by.mutual observation:
to see and to be seen.
the observatories are connected by canphones (dutch: bliktelefoon), where communication can take place easily.

to hear and to be heard.
