Museum Leaders in Training is a competitive program for teens at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA). For the 2014 spring semester, I developed a course structure that allowed them to conceive, curate, build, and install their own exhibition at the VMFA as they learned about the practices of curation and exhibition design. The students worked in teams to conduct curatorial research and writing, create scaled drawings and models, and explore concepts and materials to create an exhibition and interactive element.
