Living with Steel. What did steel enable architecture to accomplish? Well for one thing it created an innovative method of construction. It allowed for the structures to be open and uninterrupted. It also enabled the houses to organically fuse with its surrounding environment. My design looks the way that it does because I hoped to push traditional methods of book design much like Koenig pushed traditional architectural design. I let the content create organic open structures on each spread. By fusing type and image, I hoped to suddenly create structures that reflect what the content is describing.
