OUR TEAM
A private spare time project inspired by The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings and the work by Christian Girotto, Lee Howell and Glyn Dewis. It started some days before christmas 2014 and I finished it just one (!) year later...
Each colleague was photographed in three different angles so I had the chance to rearrange them on the final image. A simple lighting with one speedlight with umbrella on the upper left and a speedlight on the lower right was good enough. Depending on the character of my colleagues it was more or less easy for them to make a silly face :)
After a rough cutout of the individual colleagues and a quick first layout I started retouching them to get that dwarf-like look to match the Hobbit theme.
First of all a finer masking was needed to get rid of the background. Then I separated the head from the body and scaled it up and additionally took the eyes and scaled them another 120%. Then came the fun part. Using the liquify tool in Photoshop on the head layer to emphasize the facial details and the funny expressions. For some I turned the head slightly to one side and also scaled other parts of the body.
