This project is about deriving built form from analogue and computational analysis of the material and phenomenological conditions of its site space, with a view to defining new paradigms for architecture. Interactive and adaptive structural prototypes developed from high parallel orders of small-scale repetitive elements are redefining concepts of materiality. These elements control and articulate their location, proximity, orientation, and dimension within porous, and permeable structure and superstructure.

The emphasis shifts from a permanent and static architecture to one that is intelligent and motive, sensing and actuating ephemeral conditions to create volumes that manifest dense systemic growth, regression, or redefinition over a variety of timescales. From the interaction of these volumes, emerge new means of defining organization and communication within architecture.

The site is a vortex for the city’s complexity, across section of 300 meters including embassies, theaters, churches, galleries, law courts, hotels, universities, broadcasting facilities, and registers of life, death, and marriage. The program defines architecture on this site that is both complementary to these events, and an extension of them. The structure retains the façade adjoining India and Montreal Place.
