The Volstead is a pre-prohibition style whiskey & cocktail bar that opened in January of 2013 in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, FL. They feature high end cocktails that if I do say so myself are absolutely delicious. I was asked to design their drink menu.
The goal was to make the menu feel like an invitation to a sleek exclusive early 1900's "speakeasy-esc," type lounge. So the idea was to create a menu that when presented looked like an envelope and inside was an invitation to a world of highly refined cocktails that blended the old with the new.
We used a heavy natural looking cardstock and debossed the name The Volstead on the flap to add to tactile experience. Its a simple design that feels and looks just as elegant as the drinks themselves.
